French media: Epidemic under control in China and visitors carouse at Qingdao Int’l Beer Festival

On the evening of July 31, the 30th Qingdao International Beer Festival kicked off in The Golden Beach Beer City, a new area on the west coast of Qingdao, marking the start of days of carnival under strict epidemic prevention measures. Le Figaro, a French newspaper, reported on August 3 that the epidemic was under control in China and the Qingdao International Beer Festival had barely been affected.

China has generally been free of COVID-19, the report said, thanks to anti-epidemic measures such as wearing masks, obeying quarantine rules and timely tracking down close contacts of confirmed patients. Even so, anti-epidemic measures are still in place at the Beer Festival: the number of visitors is limited to 30% of the maximum capacity in previous years; visitors must wear masks and take temperatures of every person entering the Golden Beach Beer City. In addition, due to the novel Coronavirus infection related to imported food that appeared before, the packing cases of imported beer were sterilized in this beer festival.

Visitors to the Qingdao International Beer Festival generally expressed relief, the report added. Visitors are outdoors or walking freely, or sitting at long tables drinking happily. The Qingdao Beer Festival offers more than 1,500 beers from more than 40 countries and regions.
