Mindfulness Training Recommended to Reduce Stress and Anxiety in the Workplace

Sydney-based Mindfulness Space recommends corporate mindfulness training as a way to reduce stress and anxiety that affects a large percentage of Australian workplaces.

Sydney, Australia - February 14, 2018 /PressCable/ —

Anxiety is the most common mental health condition in Australia with 1 in 4 Australians experiencing some form of stress and/or anxiety at some point. Mindfulness training as offered by Mindfulness Space is a proven method to reduce the symptoms of workplace stress and anxiety.

While stress and worry are common responses to situations where one may feel emotional pressure, it usually passes once the stressful situation has been resolved, or ‘stressor’ has been removed.

For mild symptoms of anxiety, lifestyle changes, such as regular physical exercise and reducing one’s stress levels may help. For levels of anxiety that begin to impact on one’s life, psychological and/or mindfulness interventions may be beneficial.

Mindfulness Space offers mindfulness training workshops in Sydney for workplaces, community groups, sport clubs and schools.

Mindfulness refers to the mental process that can be characterised by a state of nonjudgmental awareness of the present moment experience, including one’s physical sensations, thoughts, awareness, while encouraging openness, curiosity, and acceptance.

The basic premise underlying mindfulness practices is that experiencing the present moment nonjudgmentally and openly can effectively counter the effects of stressors because excessive orientation toward the past or future when dealing with stressors can be related to feelings of anxiety.

A review of 47 clinical trials involving more than 3,500 participants with mild anxiety found that those who underwent mindfulness training workshops experienced improvement in their mood after eight weeks, on par with the effect seen with prescription medications.

“By teaching people to respond to stressful situations more reflectively rather than reflexively, mindfulness practices can effectively counter experiential avoidance strategies, which are often attempts to alter the intensity or frequency of unwanted internal experiences,” said Paul Jozsef, principal mindfulness trainer at Mindfulness Space.

Through the application of mindfulness practices for mental health conditions such as anxiety, Jozsef claims that his clients are more resilient and better able to navigate the daily ups and downs of everyday life.

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. — Several people who were severely injured when a man drove his car into counterprotesters at a white nationalist rally last year described devastating physical and psychological effects to a jury tasked with making a sentencing recommendation Monday. Heather Heyer, a 32-year-old paralegal, was killed and dozens were injured. Under the law, the jury can recommend from 20 years to life in prison. Heyer's mother,...

Philadelphia led the NL East in early August, then went 16-33 and wound up with its sixth straight losing record at 80-82. "One thing that I can do immediately that I think will really resonate well with our fans in Philadelphia is ... as much as I illuminate some of the things we're doing very well, I can be a little more...

Dec 10, 2018

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. — A man who drove his car into counterprotesters at a 2017 white nationalist rally in Virginia was convicted Friday of first-degree murder, a verdict that local civil rights activists hope will help heal a community still scarred by the violence and the racial tensions it inflamed nationwide. A state jury rejected defense arguments that James Alex Fields Jr. acted in self-defense during a "Unite the Right" rally in Charlottesville on Aug. 12, 2017. Jurors also convicted Fields of eight other charges, including aggravated malicious wounding and hit and run. Fields, 21, drove to Virginia from his home...

Randle, Davis push Pelicans past Mavericks 132-106

Dec 10, 2018

NEW ORLEANS — Anthony Davis noticed that his rebounding numbers were lower than usual against the Dallas Mavericks. Davis also knew why, and he wasn't about to complain about it, as long as it was Pelicans teammate Julius Randle getting to the ball instead. "He's playing physical. He wants to go get every rebound. He wants to make every shot. He's a perfectionist in my opinion, and that's a good thing about him," Davis said. "He demands a lot of himself because he wants to win. When you've got a guy like that who's hungry for everything, every possession, every...
